I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

GFY has a closeup of Lisa Rinna's SAG dress.

Not really worksafe, at least by implication.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

You know how sometimes a guy will propose to his girlfriend in some public event, like a sporting event? Ever wanted to see the girl say "No"?

Marriage Proposal Rejected at a Basketball Match

It was more sad and less funny than I thought it would be. But still funny.

eta: I like how the TV announcer says that he wants a woman to say "No" just once, just before she does.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

I first read that as 1 Long Pig.

Mmmm. Long pig.

Compassionately intolerant

A quick question for facebookers. I accepted a friend request from someone from high school...despite reservations about mixing the groups in my life up. Upon viewing her profile, I see a potential for trouble down the road.

The question: when you 'unfriend' someone, are they notified?

AFAIK, no.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

As far as I know, they don't - but you might show up in her "people you might know" list, which would tip her off.

Thanks. I'm okay with having to face the music, should it come to that, but I'm glad to know it won't be a big production.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I wish you could group people on facebook into family, friends, etc and only let certain friends see certain things. Mom doesn't want me to post my shower photos there because she doesn't want to get in trouble with a part of the extended family that did not get invited. They weren't invited because the list was just too damn long.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Skipping and skimming and asking for help (x-posted with Bitches):

IthisisafreakyuniworldN: seems like my TA is more excited about a paper I'm working on than me. He's actually suggesting me bibliography and almost pushing my gently forward, even though I still have a whole freaking semester to take care of that and test season is just about to happen. Seriously, I want to write it too, but this is a little bit scary, and I'm not very good with not living up to expectations of intellectual awesomeness people have about me. I aim to please.

Which brings me to my next question: again, long shot, but I'm keeping my faith in the 6-degrees-of-interwebs: do we know one, James Elwick? The man seems to have an unpublished paper which seems very relevant to paper I'm conspiring, and I'm trying to get access to. So, that would be great help.
