Visually, the non-comma version is best.
I wonder if the comma is necessary, could it be a little smaller, with a bit more space behind it?

Java, I went to the Cronkite School of Journalism at ASU, and for Uncle Walter, it was more than a brand. He met the students several times while I was in school there and once it was my pleasure...coolest person to ever tell me to speak up. I also got to ask Bill Moyers an incredibly stupid question the following year. But he was cool about it.

Now the word comma is losing all meaning or is at least starting to look really weird.
Do I need the bottom text at all? though I think it balances it out?
