Is it a crush that suddenly developed over a pre-existing friendship, or did the crush hit soon after meeting? I've had the latter work out OK, the trick was maintaining perspective that the feelings were not mutual.

This is a long-standing friendship with a gay (partnered) friend, who is allowed to frolic outside the primary - and we have. But suddenly I'm just all RAWR and it's not being returned. Angst. Stephenie, you should be OK on the Metro if you avoid rush hour. And I'd advise keeping both kids in the stroller while you're in the Metro system (little ones tend to wander, I've noticed). I'd also advise getting off at the Cleveland Park stop and walking downhill to the zoo. Then you can walk downhill to the Woodley Park stop when you leave.

This is awesome advice. I knew the zoo was between two stops but I couldn't remember which way the hill went. We are supposed to meet at 10:30, so I think I'll be able to avoid rush hour.

I do have a Beco I could put Frisco in but I'm always just so tired when I've had him in there for a while. Plus, I'd have to carry him and our bags.

ALSO ... if you want to totally wimp out, the L2 bus runs down Connecticut Avenue and if you HAPPENED to get off the Metro a little before one came along, you could ride down to just across from the zoo. (however, the side of the street that the Metro elevator is on is across from the side you'd want to ride the bus down). A lot of the buses on that line are the ones that don't have steps ... although you're supposed to fold up strollers before getting on ...which means you might be better off just taking the elevator up to the street and walking down.
