Interesting. Obama's reference to Khe Sanh wasn't just a nod to one of the few traditional battles of Vietnam, nor to Bruce Springsteen's lyric. The anniversary of that battle is tomorrow.
I also thought it was interesting that with all the parallels being made to MLK and Lincoln, that Obama chose to quote George Washington in his speech. (A point underscored by the current cover of the New Yorker. Incidentally, I once had lunch with Drew Friendman, the artist of that cover.)
I think that was a deliberate and interesting choice (though we shouldn't be surprised by his deliberation at this point). Not in a self-aggrandizing way, but in the sense of taking office in a time of crisis. And also rooting his message of renewing the country by referencing specifically the new nation. I think he used the word "nation" way more than "country." I think that was deliberate too.
Maybe this should go in Tech but I think it affects a lot of people here... a US Democracy server patch has been issued. Among the fixes:
A rendering error that frequently caused the President to appear wrapped in the American Flag texture has been addressed.

Typo--thanks for the contracting information. I hope I don't need to use it, but I'll take what I can get.
If I'm out of regular flour, I can fake it by mixing cake and bread flour, right? One's low gluten, and one's high.
If mouths are hotbeds of germs (when I cut my face open they told me to take anti-biotics so the through and through wound wouldn't get infected, and that the split lip would get infected anyway), why do cuts in the mouth heal quicker than wounds in other places?
The Mentalist is a repeat today, and I only caught half of Sunday's ep. I'm half an hour short my fresh Simon Baker due.

High concentration of blood vessels, I expect. A cut on the palm of your hand will heal more quickly than on say, your arm.
Funny Strega.

But at least Leverage is/was fun!
eta: With good Kane Hair Action.
Leverage was fun, and Hardison looked good in those duds towards the end.
Plus widely flying Kane hair!
Poking head to post that, you guys, I was actually catching up (even though I'm supposed to work right now) on your watch-and-post from the inauguration and the events around it, and it was just so special to experience your historical moment through your emotions and responses and thoughts (and, wow, actually being there!). I really appreciate being able to share this with you.
And then, the day ended with a phone call from my brother, on reserve duty, saying that he's coming home. Goodness, what a wonderful ending for the day.
