When Sagrada Familia is finished, it will be added to Ceiling Porn.
I'm not a Christian; I tend not to be whelmed (under- or over-) by their stuff. However - walking into the still-greatly-unfinished sanctuary and looking so far up...into stone trees (with leaves and birds and vines and flowers) which are the columns holding up that ceiling...
Quite literally took my breath away. I can't wait until it's done in the 2020s.
Timelies all!
Happy Birthday Frank!

I would love to do that. I love the stories of generations of craftspeople working on cathedrals, of knowing that they won't see the finished product, but also knowing that they were creating a thing of beauty that would stand for a very long time.
Sagrada Familia
The Gaudi in Barcelona? His buildings are a wonder.
I am looking for a pediatric dentist and an adult dentist. My dental insurance is No Help At All. HATE.
Tennis: The Serena/Dementieva match was amazing - but wTF? Dinara Safina in no way looked like a player that was #1. She won't be #1 for long, will she ?
The Cathedral of St. John the Divine here in NYC has been under construction since 1892: [link]
sumi, I think they said in the commentary that the top three would remain unchanged, because Safina made it to the semis.
Jesse, I was just thinking about St. John the Divine! Matilda has a plaster replica of a rabbit wall carving from one of the little niches/shrines on the wall over her crib.
Kat - yes, Gaudi's massive "cathedral" in Barcelona.
No power tools are used in its construction; entirely hand-done. A lot of work was un-done by Franco and his men.
We spent 3 days in Barcelona (the ex and I; he's Spanish/Venezuelan) just to look at the Sagrada Familia, Park Guell, La Padrera (or Casa Mila, though no-one calls it that anymore), and Casa Batllo (which has people living in it, besides being a museum).
I so want to go back every 5 or 10 years and track the progress on the Sagrada Familia. This devout OBOD Bard will be attending both Easter and Christmas masses there, once each, after completion.
It'll be a thing.
