Are you dissing book knowledge, and instead basing your assertion on life experience?
The funniest part of all of this (and by funny, I mean bash your head against a wall) is that part of his rhetoric is "I have no problem saying "I don't know". You can't know everything, and if you do, you need to get a life. That's why there's books."
Just accidentally hit a link bashing NJ and New Jersey lovers. Have even half the people who hate on the Garden State ever been here?

And if you counter with information from a respected book or college education, he'll simply shake his head and dis book-knowledge. He's got the life experience, yo.
Like Kanye!
I sometimes spout totally redundant and unnecessary information for no reason. I'm surprised you have noticed that before now.

Argh.
OK, this is not really the same thing, but I had a friend who once gave us all this speech about how open he was to criticism (even though he wasn't). He said that we should just tell him whenever he was being an asshole, because that would be OK. But in reality he would get all freaked out whenever anyone criticized him for anything. So in this area anyway, his self image was 180 degrees off of the reality.
This has caused much head-banging-against-walls for his friends over the years....

Okay, that's one.
(My first experience with Rt. 22, no left turns, and jughandles was my first night, after sunset, in the pouring rain, after a six hour drive. My hate was strong).
Jughandles are just so odd, aren't they? I'll be encountering them again later this month, when I drive out to NJ to see my mom and brother. I guess they make sense if you don't want to use a left turn lane, but I've never seen that solution used elsewhere. Mom also has a traffic circle (aka rotary) on the main road to her subdivision that's fun to drive through during evening rush hour.
We moved to NJ when I was young and I went through HS there. My view may have been skewed - it was a very uncongenial town and I got out as fast as I could and went back only when necessary.
