I am tired. I am over the moon. My feet hurt. I think I missed a call from Kat, but the recording was garbled, so I can't tell. I walked from Union Station to the Washington Monument a long way. And back. I got stuck in human gridlock. I made a new friend in DC who by the end of the day felt like an old friend. I took Taylor. Even as tired as she was at the end of the day, she was happy to be there. I stood beneath the Monument and cried as I heard things I value about my country's ideals invoked and returned to, and I stared at the monument (it was partly so I could hear ok- the sound bounced off it.) I made a grown man old enough to be my father cry when I started crying. I met people who'd taken the bus from Chicago (like that guy) and Connecticut and Indiana and Louisiana the day before. I shook hands and hugged complete strangers I'll never meet again. I huddled around a radio with those complete strangers when the sound sucked and heard almost every word. We met eyes over key phrases and mouthed "Yes!" I was part of that sea of humanity.
And I took a few pictures: [link]
I'll catch up here eventually.
I like the caption, "cat 006". Does Oz have a license to kill?
Nah, he doesn't even have claws.
Oh Sara, you're choking me up. I am so glad you went.
I love that she's listed as Dr. Jill Biden at whitehouse.gov.
Me too! And her doctorate is in education.
Oh Sara, you're choking me up. I am so glad you went.
Me too!
CSpan seem to be starting over form the beginning, if anyone is interested.
DressRegistry.com is a fun place to go through to peruse the dresses women are desperate not to have duplicated at the various balls. I was playing, "Who would wear THAT to an inaugural ball!"

This one particularly.
Kat was there with Closeup.
Seeing Sparky, though briefly, was lovely and they are awesome for letting me park there. I'm sure she thought I'd lost my mind when I called to tell her she needn't pick us up at the metro because we'd met a stranger who'd give us a ride back . Um.
When I thought I couldn't get choked up again. Yay Sara! I'm so glad that you were there.
Rush is an idiot. I couldn't have a lower opinion of Bush and his policies, but I would have preferred to see him have some success. I would have happily applauded a thriving economy and peace on earth at the hands of a conservative Republican. But that isn't what happened. It isn't being polite to wish success to the next guy; it might even be in everyone's best interest. Does anyone take Rush seriously?
