I feel kind of sorry for Sanford, re: the emails. They may not be the height of literary achievement, but they sound sincere, and I think the guy has little enough sincerity in his life that it should be mocked. And a couple of them are kind of sweet.

Yep, connie. That's why, even with the hypocrisy and insane-o decision-making, I feel kind of sorry for Sanford & co.
It wasn't just a "guy couldn't keep it in his pants" scenario (which isn't to condemn polyamory, if it's conducted consciously and honestly) which is a higher degree of self-deception and bad conduct.
