What are people who aren't in Seattle doing this weekend?
Aside from hiding from the 95+ F temps? I'll be doing a bunch of freelance web work that I should have done last weekend. I'm thinking of getting on book mooch. I'll also clean the apartment and do something or other to celebrate the Solstice. No naked woods dancing, though. The mosquitoes are too fierce and my tradition doesn't call for blood sacrifice.
My weekend will be full of t-ball, good friends, a wedding, yummy middle eastern food, and chores.
I will happily trade any of your your rain for my 96 degree heat with humidity.
We've actually got a forecast for 102 degrees for tomorrow.
And it's JUNE. I'm with Trudy, actually-- I LOVED the weather, yesterday in NYC. I just hated having to travel in it. It was a perfect stay in, drink tea, and write and/or read sort of day. I live for those days and we don't get enough of them in Florida. Of course, that may change in the reasonably near future. (Not Florida weather, but our being in proximity to it.)
My weekend will be spent praying no police see my car because I found out this morning that my drivers license was denied due to medical reasons, despite my filling out the required form back in March and having confirmed with my doctor's office that they did indeed fax in the form back then.
Oh, and Hubby has surgery on Monday, and I don't know if I'll be able to get this resolved then.
Lot's of getting-that-shit-resolved-ma towards you. Not to mention health-ma for your husband.
What Gud said, connie. On both counts.
Thanks for that, Trudy!! I'm just boggled that my life right now is better than my sibs in some ways.
Ohhhh, rainy here today. Not just rain, but thunder, lightning, and near darkness--you have to have your lights on in the house to see anything, and the headlights on the car are not just to satisfy state law, they're really necessary.
I might postpone the drive over to Omaha Steaks until tomorrow afternoon, when I'll be closer to the mall. I really don't want to be driving in this, especially at the start of Friday rush hour.

I feel bad for my sister. She's driving down to Chicago to see the Harry Potter thing at the Museum of Science and Industry. The museum is way on the South side. Then she's driving up to Evanston to pick me up. She hates driving in Chicago, btw.
How bad do you suppose the traffic will be at 3:00 on Lake Shore Drive or 90/94?

Friday afternoon, with rain? Hor.ren.dous. Rush hour starts at about 1:00 on Fridays, so it'll be in full swing by 3:00.
Today I am rushing home from work and cleaning like a mofo, as my MiL and her BFF are staying for the weekend. My MiL is a VERY clean person. A famous family story about her--she was staying with my SiL to recover from major spinal fusion surgery. She wasn't supposed to lift or carry anything. SiL came home to find her standing on a stepladder on the dining room table, dusting the blades of the ceiling fan.
It's an excuse to do a real spring cleaning, so I don't honestly mind that much. DH is doing the kitchen and I am doing the rest of the house. Tomorrow morning we do the yard.

That's what I was afraid of.
Gah. I should call and warn her. If she was more familiar with the city I'd tell her to come to Evanston first and take public transit down to the museum. Hmmm... maybe I'll suggest that anyway.
