And don't you ever stand for that sort of thing. Someone ever tries to kill you, you try to kill 'em right back! ... You got the right same as anyone to live and try to kill people.

'Sokay, ita.

Being a parent is just a lot of drudgery. And the lovely moments are so sappy and kodaky that undoubtedly all of my non-parent friends are rolling their eyes. Like today, Noah articulated a sequence of events, in chronological order that he remembered. His little brain is growing and developing and it thrills me because you can see all of that learning happening.

But the truth is? SO BORING to read about when you aren't his mom.

In other news? I'm writing letters to local businesses to ask for sponsorship for cheerleading. We need to raise $300 per girl for uniforms. Right now I have 10 girls so that's only $3000, which seems an insurmountable amount.

And I also need to raise funds to buy a screenprinting thing so we can make shirts for cheerleading. Which is another $300 give or take, but would ideally pay for itself.

And did I mention I need ads for the newspaper?

Art Crawl!!!

Not wrong at all. How long does the corpse flower stay in bloom?

sumi, I'm not sure. I think a week to ten days. More info here: [link] Like all flowers, this one looks totally sexual.

Also, on my list of things I need? I need 60 copies of Tale of Two Cities. Seriously. I should write a grant for that one.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

I didn't really listen in much, it was actually about abiogenesis, but the word "Darwinism" was being used.

Oh oh oh! There was a fantastic article in the NY Times this week. Scientists have, fairly recently, made no less than four major advances in determining how life could have begun. [link]

Microchip her. It's very subtle.

And then we can follow her migratory habits! If we're really lucky, she'll lead us to where the blue whale goes to breed.

Kat - does the tale of two cities need to be a specific edition?

Because books.

We should all go out and pick up a couple at used bookstores for you, Kat.

Also, the corpse flower sounds awesome and I haven't even looked at it yet.

Kat, I put a posting on freecycle. I'll let you know if I get any.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Kat, I think the development stuff is fascinating. They become people. Their little brains are so unlike ours for so long, but they're growing and changing as you watch. I kinda don't believe in it, so I'm fascinated to read about it. Plus I like to read about what makes my friends happy.

I blanch at the thought of all the fundraising you have to do. I wouldn't even know where to start. Go msbelle with the freecycle.

I just found out something about google. If I google "south korea president" it tells me who the president of South Korea is (Lee Myung-Bak) before it gives me any search results. That's way cool. Don't ask why I found that out. I have too much time on my hands.

Off to read billytea's link.

There's a Uni textbook I half have my eye on, called "How Children Develop" [link] Looks fascinating, just, it's priced like a Uni textbook. Oh, there's also a DVD series called A Child's World (it seems to be out of production now). Only three episodes long, but it covers how a child develops a conception of identity, time, other people's awareness, all that kind of thing. It's excellent viewing.
