Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

I think they're all hip for their times -- icons, even -- but they're in styles that we would now consider nerdy. Except that it's more nerd-chic than actual nerd.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

I would have thought that in 1961 or so, a man in a white shirt, no tie, and skinny trousers would have looked hip, even fashion forward, not nerdy.

Back then, that would have been considered "casual Mod," wouldn't it?

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Isn't "nerd style" an oxymoron, though?

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Thinks back to High School...

I'm going to go with "yes".

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Energy Secretary Chu: "I Am A Nerd

WASHINGTON (Reuters) Even though he is 15th in the line of succession to the U.S. presidency, Energy Secretary Steven Chu still thinks he's a nerd.

CNN is saying massive underground explosion in San Francisco, smoke pouring out of manholes. I trust all our SFistas are staying above ground today?

It's not too far from where juliana and I live, but I don't think she was planning any spelunking today.

Scary!!

Probably another infrastructure problem, like the steam that came from the NYC pipe a year or so ago.

I wanna go home now! I hate Friday afternoons at work, especially in the summer.

This comment on sfist gives you an idea of the likelihood we would be in that area:

According to Alert SF, "Avoid the area of Polk / O'Farrell for next hour due to fire in underground vault. Heavy smoke. Traffic in area is impacted." Also, as always, you could very well get shot and killed at Polk and O'Farrell, or groped by bachelor party revelers from the nearby O'Farrell Theater, so do be careful.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Harrrrrrr. So true. It is very noisy around us right now, though, what with the news copters and the traffic diversions.
