Wow, that photo is really amazing. It's such a different angle it just puts the whole scene in a different perspective.

That is a cool photo.
When you know the other photo, you have to wonder what's going through Tank Man's head, standing there and waiting for the tanks to reach him. Wow.
I've always wondered what happened to him afterwards - is he still alive? or is he in a prison somewhere?
Calli, nah. Just my wits a bit rattled - and those weren't all that sharp to begin with.

Absolutely. A fascinating expansion on an existing record of heroism. How many people could stand there while others were, perfectly sensibly, running away?

IIRC, the general impression was that he must have been executed, as the Chinese government wouldn't say otherwise.
There was a Frontline ep a few years back on the Tank Man, and basically it boiled down to no one knows for sure who he was or what happened to him. There were rumors that he was later arrested, and other people were positive he got off scot free.
Yeah, the decision was made so much earlier than I realized, with the tanks farther away in the picture. And he just said, no, I'm going to stop them.
How can I be more like that?
Timelies all!
Happy Birthday Dana!
Happy Birthday Ellie!
I wonder if Tank Man was just in a Zen place, where the decision had been made and fate was just waiting on events.
