brillig

I wonder if Tank Man was just in a Zen place, where the decision had been made and fate was just waiting on events.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

My sister has me doing research for her on effective interventions for minority or Caribbean men who have sex with men. Men who have sex with men is abbreviated MSM throughout the literature, and my brain keeps unpacking it to Men Sexing Men. Unlikely etymology.

She has me *way* in over my head, since I think I'm casting too wide a net. So much looks useful, though.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Peace to SuziQ and family, and a peaceful household to msbelle as well.

And happy birthday to Dana and Ellie!

And ita, glad to hear that the stressy interview went better than you thought. I have fingers crossed that it all works out.

I stayed home today and planned on writing, only DH stayed home as well and borrowed my computer all day so he could work at home. I feel churlish for being annoyed, esp since he really was working and he really isn't feeling well. But still? How glad am I to have my computer back?

On the upside, baked a cake this afternoon, which I wouldn't have done if I was on the computer.

Another thought:

That Tank Man photo is impressive. It does make you realize how deliberate his actions were.

I was surprised to learn that the incident happened not as the tanks were coming into Beijing, but as they were leaving. So it's not a desperate bid to stop them. It's a confrontation condemning them for what they did.

Punctuation question: When you're putting multiple paragraphs in quotation marks, you re-open the marks at the start of every paragraph, right, and only close them at the end of the entire quote?

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Yup.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Yup.

And then flinch. Because it Seems Wrong.

“Not dead yet!”

And then flinch. Because it Seems Wrong.

The computer scientist in me is outraged. Luckily Word seems to be dealing okay.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

It feels wrong, but it's so right.

My niece is lead vocalist for a Cookie-Monster death metal band. (I've never heard it called that before! That's funny. Wonder if she'll laugh? No.)Yep, it's my niece, who first debuted her sweet singing voice on stage in Guys and Dolls, doing the rough demonic screaming. They're actually really good, though. And because of her, I know who Cannibal Corpse is. Yay?
