I like money better than people. People can so rarely be exchanged for goods and/or services!

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

They're shooting a film at the bar this afternoon. The cast and crew are all drunk.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

The first night in my first apartment in Chicago, about 3 am, this girl starts in banging on the door next door, full on banging and kicking and "let me in, why won't you let me in, I said I was sorry, you bastard let me in" screaming and crying for like ten full minutes.

Then she gets on the phone, too. "I've been begging you for ten mintues, why won't you let me in????" t totally calm voice "Oh. Well where are you?"

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I had a roommate that was getting ready to go into the Air Force. The night before going to Basic he, as tradition demands, went out and got completely wasted. He came home and started banging on the door, yelling, "My key won't work! Let me in! Let me in!" We lived in a duplex. He was banging on the wrong door. They called the cops.

"What would it take to get your daughter to stop tweeting about this?"

Oh Jesus. George Tiller, one of the few late-term abortion providers left in this country, shot and killed on his way into church this morning. I'm just sick.

Yes.

I'm here in Wichita and I just found out. I'm stunned. I mean they have tried so many times in so many ways to hurt the man that I shouldn't be...but I am. I never really believe that people can be that evil.

But they can be.

Phelps will probably try and gather his "people" for the memorial. If I was Tiller's family I wouldn't even have one. I would say, "Enough. He continued to fight for women through bombings and previous shootings. He doesn't have any more to give and we are not going to let you spew hate at a funeral."

I really want people to be better than this.

eta: Candlelight vigil to honor George Tiller set for tonight. [link] But the terrorists win because I am too afraid of the crazies shooting anyone with a candle to attend.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Dana, word. He looked so confused with the whole thing. Damn.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Director: "I need you to sober up for one more shot!"

Heh.

It sounds like they arrested the shooter.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Buffista Parenting Question:

Dylan squished his thumb in a gate this morning - not a door slam, but his thumb got caught in the hinge of a gate he was closing. I didn't ice it right away because we were at the park and had no ice (and after the initial shock, he seemed fine and went back to playing). Now, several hours and a nap later, it's all purple and swollen, and clearly still very sore. Is it even worth trying to ice now, or should I just give him some ibuprofen before bedtime? The nail isn't torn or broken or anything - the injury was entirely to the fleshy part of the thumb.

[I had a brainstorm and gave him an old teething toy out of the freezer to play with - he doesn't have to sit still with his hand in a bucket of ice, but it should hopefully bring the swelling down a bit.]
