Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

It sounds like they arrested the shooter.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Buffista Parenting Question:

Dylan squished his thumb in a gate this morning - not a door slam, but his thumb got caught in the hinge of a gate he was closing. I didn't ice it right away because we were at the park and had no ice (and after the initial shock, he seemed fine and went back to playing). Now, several hours and a nap later, it's all purple and swollen, and clearly still very sore. Is it even worth trying to ice now, or should I just give him some ibuprofen before bedtime? The nail isn't torn or broken or anything - the injury was entirely to the fleshy part of the thumb.

[I had a brainstorm and gave him an old teething toy out of the freezer to play with - he doesn't have to sit still with his hand in a bucket of ice, but it should hopefully bring the swelling down a bit.]

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

If it's still swollen and he can tolerate the ice, I'd recommend it for up to 10 minutes.

sumi, it was quite a sight.

Because books.

That's a good idea, Jessica. Otherwise just give him some ibuprofen and see what it looks like tomorrow.

Trust my rage

I say ibuprofen to help him sleep and then wait and see. And if he's not complaining, it's probably fine?

He protests when you apply pressure to the thumb (he was NOT into having his hands wiped down after dinner), but it doesn't seem to be bothering him otherwise. He held onto the teething toy for about 15 minutes before bathtime and has now been drugged and is ready for bed. Thanks for the tips!

That is SO awful about Tiller. Jesus. I can't believe what people justify. In CHURCH?? For Christ's sake...really.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

When I was in Cleveland this weekend, I was perusing the cable TV channel listings, and learned that Tom Scola is a TV channel: [link]
