Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

There are people protesting the spelling bee.

yeah - they've been there before. They object to standardized spelling. One reason is - justifiably - that kids with dyslexia or other learning disabilities can't compete. But, taking that logic through, they'd have to eliminate all competitive sports, since kids who have physical disabilities can't compete.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Kid is scary smart. I don't think we're going to let him know about that score anytime soon. His ego is already fairly huge.

But he could start boning up on his quips! When someone tells him he's a genius, he can modestly joke, "Only technically!" and stuff!

(Note: sadly, this does not often go over as well as it should. Alas.)

Somehow I'm not surprised that Gud's kids are smart; obviously, it's hereditary.

Yeah, I'm sorry but that's nuts. The whole point of big-time competition in anything is that the competitors are exceptional. So while, sure, there are a group of people who are knocked out because of a disability, there's a much larger group who are knocked out just because they aren't good enough.

And yet there they are on the street corner with signs that, now that I think of it, could be taken from a LOLcat.
