I like those sofas! We need a new one. DH picked out the one in the family room and I hate it because it has a serious dent in one side of the seating.
We need something kid-proof. Or at least kid-resistant.
Congrats to Jilli on the good news!
And Kat, I'm sorry to hear that. It's going around Isaac's school too.
I slept right through that second earthquake. Wouldn't have known about it if I hadn't come here to see what was up.
I could use a new sofa, but won't get one until I move in the fall, because my current one got ripped moving in here.
I'm killing me with this neighborhood! I was telling Maureen (the woman I walked back with, and her dog) that I can't believe how lucky I got. I mean, REALLY. She's been here 21 years. Her kids just went off to college. She's a practical nurse nearby. We were talking about how hilarious the listserv is and I introduced her to the term kerfuffle.
Hee! I love the Buffista hivemind, even when it comes to sofa preferences!!
Microfiber definitely works better for cat hair--I've got it on the recliner my stepmom unloaded on me when she redecorated her bedroom, and the black cat hair just rolls right off with a damp cloth (or a licked-on hand). The weave on this new sofa should be interesting, but I did invest in the extra treatment that will repel stains and will also cover any tears, rips, cat clawing, etc. for seven years (it was only $70 extra).
I like the curve of the wood on the front of the sofa, and luckily enough, the honey color of the wood comes pretty close to matching my coffee and end tables.
I just bought a microfiber sofa!
I think that unless we go leather (or faux-leather), microfiber is going to be best at ease of pet hair removal. And I don't want leather (or faux-leather). Or vinyl. Or an inflatable couch, cool though I thought they were back in college.

Me too!

But also this. Because I don't think even microfiber is enough to withstand my cats and my fumbles for long.
Oh, Teppy, I meant to say that I love that dark wine color on the second couch! The pseudo-suede material that's on the first one has a nice feel, too.
I was being picky because, due to my weight, I wanted a couch that didn't sink too much under my body so I can get out of the couch easier. Also, I found with my current couch that having loose pillows for the back of the couch doesn't work for me since they lost their shape within a few years. I wanted a couch that had attached cushions on the back, and the cheaper couches all had loose cushions and sank under my body too much for my taste.
