I grew up at 64°50′N, most of my great-grandparents came from around 52°31′N to 50°05′N, my grandparents settled (and my parents grew up) at 41°54′N, and now I live at 37°46′N (before, I was at 44°59′N). I don't think I could live this far south without the cooling influence of the Pacific. Also, I can (and do) burn, but usually I just get brown. Very brown.
I do find it hilarious that Fairbanks is the 11th city listed. Go Team Far North!!
Athens is further north than San Francisco? Surprising.
New York and Madrid being the same is what always surprises me.
Does chicken-flavoured ramen count as chicken soup as far as being sick goes?
Chicago and Rome are at the same latitude, which surprised me. The summers can be similar, but the winters are soooo not!
Chicken Ramen for the Soul? I don't think so.
Timelies all!
Last night we saw "Unwigged and Unplugged" (Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer doing songs from "Spinal Tap", "A Mighty Wind" and other projects) Lots of fun.
(Hearing "Big Bottom" done with just the standup bass as instrumentation, and in a jazzy sort of style was interesting)
Me, I was born at 18°. I should be darker. But I am, when I'm there. I grew up there and at 51°. Mah peeps harken from about 55° and 10°, so it all averages out.
Well, at least now I'll have something to throw up that didn't cost me much.
2 packages of Ramen Noodles: 66 cents
Not having to dryheave: Priceless
Things I Have Discovered I Cannot Do: Pantomime a collect call to someone who does not speak English.
Things I Can Do: Give up and just use my cellphone to call the people she's trying to reach and let her make the call that way.
