Because books.

It is, sara.

Cherry Ames was my girl, aside from Nancy Drew. I think I only read a few Trixies. Oh, but I loved the Beany Malone books, too!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Kashi and strawberries:

I'd never noticed how much Keith Carradine looks like Stephen Collins until I half watched Because I Said So. Which my TiVo recorded because Colin's in it, but he has one line and it's a profoundly irritating movie. At least I didn't use much attention on it.

I loved Trixie Belden! I didn't read Cherry Ames until adulthood, and then only shortly before I read the lesbian takeoff of Cherry Ames. Hee. Which was awesome.

Good, because I've already slapped a hot washcloth soaking in both on my face. I'm sure some of it is several sweaty days in makeup. Will be more diligent in washing my face before and after digging into some sweaty house project.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Yeah, I'm not opposed to a little onion. Or worcestershire sauce. Mmmm.

I loved the Lea & Perrin's commercials.

Stentorian voice: "Once you were dry. I MADE YOU JUICY!"
It was like porn for hearing impaired amnesiacs.

Any family that was going to let Trixie have a horse can't be that poor.

Is this still related to the burger discussion?

Coding and Sleeping

I made a chocolate layer cake for my wife and it didn't cool off to frost in time for the kids to have some. We told them that they could have a little bit at breakfast tomorrow. Is it bad I have the urge to deny them cake in the morning and tell them that the cake is a lie?

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

There's a refrigerated vending machine at the school that has what alleges to be cheeseburgers.

I suppose you're supposed to heat them up in the microwave.

I wonder if they've EVER sold any.

Just remember, it's less than a month to Father's Day now. But let your conscience be your guide....

I read both of those courtesy of the library book sales. I can still recall the smell. Who was the diamond snood? That had to be Belden.

I remember a pacific island Cherry Ames clearly. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a lot of racism in it, were I to reread it now. But it did give me an impression of how brutal the pacific campaign was. And that was kid lit. OH, that reminds me, I read a Nevil Shute some time back (Requiem for a Sparrow?) and it was a plot revolving around what we now call PTSD. But it was never given a name. It was heartbreaking.
