Now tagless for your comfort.

Isn't the post office closed today?

The stuff I have is going UPS or is already postage-paid, so I can stick it in the outgoing mail at the UPS place and it will go out tomorrow.

Thanks for the reminder, though!

hip deep in pie

Hey, it's Blue Monday!

I must admit, I was tempted to call in "sick" rather than deal with all this slush and ice.

"In the equation E = mc⬧, c⬧ is a pretty big honking number." - Scola

It's certainly depressing to me. Asked to give me three things he learned from the class presentations, a student has managed to give me PART of the subject of his OWN presentation. Along the lines of "It goes from here to... someplace."

Punishingly Intricate

Hey, there are some Leverage fans here right? I've skimmed conversation about it in the last few weeks if I'm not mistaken. So, I taped a couple of eps and watched them with my boyfriend this weekend and we weren't really impressed. The eps were the one about rescuing the boy from Bosnia or Serbia, I can't remember which, by pretending to shoot a movie and the one where the infiltrate the mob wedding.

Are those particularly weak episodes? Also, we were wondering if how they got together was explained in the pilot. I was so disappointed because I love the cast.

Because books.

Oh, lisah, I'm sorry you don't love it! It's very much Ocean's Eleven meets Robin Hood to me, and I adore the cast.

They get together in the pilot, yes -- Timothy Hutton's character recruits them for one job, which goes a little differently than planned, and then they decide to keep working together.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Cashmere, did you get the new issue of Blue Monday?

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

It was explained in the pilot. I don't think those were the strongest eps, but if they really didn't do it for you, this might not be the show for you.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

It's snowing here. I have a purring cat in my lap. If I didn't need to get lunch in a bit I wouldn't leave the house today.(Well, I had a doctor's appointment this morning, and ran some errands after, but I'm done with that)

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

The true history of the Bush years

Now, in this moment before a changing world overwrites our memories of the era, let us pause to salute our constant companion of those years: The Onion. Other histories of the Bush years will doubtless be more factual, but none will ever be truer.

Boing Boing sez:

Over on the Making Light blog, our Teresa Nielsen Hayden's put together the comprehensive list of Onion stories from the Bush presidency -- and since the headline is often the funniest part of an Onion story, this is fine fast reading indeed
