I'm so glad I was in DC last week instead of this week.

The Mall already had a shitload of porta-potties. What's scary is the thought there might still not be enough....

I don't think I could manage now. I am a frequent pee-er.

I am too. I think it will be fine, really. I'll probably just have to wait in a lot of lines.

Anytime I hear about great crowds like that, I think, "what about if you have to go to the bathroom?" I wish my mind weren't quite so prosaic in its concerns. It's not as though it's a frequent concern of mine, but I often evaluate situations on the basis of availability of sanitary facilities.

There are a few hundred porta potties. I was at the Mall for a little while yesterday, and didn't see any lines for them. (There were also some people selling toilet paper, claiming that the porta potties had run out of it, but that wasn't true.)

I wasn't actually in the crowd by the reflecting pool, though -- I got there too late, and ended up in the overflow crowd around the Washington Monument, behind the WWII Memorial. Couldn't see anything from there anyway (the jumbotrons were mounted too low, and I couldn't see over people's heads), so I found a spot totally outside the crowd where I could actually hear better.

It's a holiday in Canuckistan, too? I mean, I know you're probably excited about Obaminauguration too, but going so far as to make it a holiday?!

It's not a holiday here. I should have said I forgot it was a a holiday for you. Trust me, if it was a holiday here, I would not be at work. And not only do we not get to celebrate Obamaday, I am in training all day tomorrow, so I can't even watch it online like I was planning to.

I am TiVoing the ceremony, though.

Well, here's a fun turn-up. I just got my W-2 and found I made quite a lot less than I thought I was making last year.

Mind you, month-to-month it seemed okay, and it did cover my needs and pay off my credit cards, but... gosh, I have to start paying attention to these things. Especially since I think we're going to have a step freeze next year. Yay!

ETA: Never mind. It's actually the right amount -- I just forgot how much lower the salary scale is here than in San Francisco. C'est la vie.

Isn't the post office closed today?

The stuff I have is going UPS or is already postage-paid, so I can stick it in the outgoing mail at the UPS place and it will go out tomorrow.

I must admit, I was tempted to call in "sick" rather than deal with all this slush and ice.

It's certainly depressing to me. Asked to give me three things he learned from the class presentations, a student has managed to give me PART of the subject of his OWN presentation. Along the lines of "It goes from here to... someplace."

Hey, there are some Leverage fans here right? I've skimmed conversation about it in the last few weeks if I'm not mistaken. So, I taped a couple of eps and watched them with my boyfriend this weekend and we weren't really impressed. The eps were the one about rescuing the boy from Bosnia or Serbia, I can't remember which, by pretending to shoot a movie and the one where the infiltrate the mob wedding.

Are those particularly weak episodes? Also, we were wondering if how they got together was explained in the pilot. I was so disappointed because I love the cast.
