I hate to break it to you, oh impotent one, but you're not the big bad anymore, you're not even the kind of naughty.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I just got a friend suggestion for Joss Whedon. It's funny, but I don't at all believe that it's legit.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Since 8 years ago, I was probably still curled up in a fetal position on my couch, I need someone to remind me--was the Bush inauguration this exiting and heartfelt? This celebratory and just fucking awesome?

I'm rewatching the concert since there were spots I missed while we watched football.

No.

A small example: If I remember the Bush inaug took place on a Saturday. The concert before the inauguration was Ricky Martin. I was slotted to go. I got there late and I was able to (1) walk right in with no problem and no security [granted, the security has changed since 9-11] and (2) get up near the stage no problem. Well, if I wanted to.

I think the transition for the Bush inaug, like most of the administration, was done silently, behind closed doors and by Dick Cheney. I think Obama has been one of the most active transitions we've seen.

So many people are selling commemorative goods!

This just feels super exciting.

I've had friend suggestions for Tim Minear and Steve DeKnight. The one that made me squee, however, was John Hodgman. ETA: Hodgman is in my people you may know list again!

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

As excited as I would have been to be there, I don't think mac would have appreciated it or even had a good time.

We have breakfasted and the friend is here, so they are off playing in mac's room. I guess I should get laundry in.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

This picture looks like my nightmare. Really cool to see in a picture, but I can't imagine wanting to be in that crowd.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

This picture looks like my nightmare.

Mine, too.

Really cool to see in a picture, but I can't imagine wanting to be in that crowd.

I wish I were the kind of person who could tolerate crowds, because I'd love to be in DC for the inauguration. But being in a crowd like that is total claustrophobia for me. Even for an event like this, I couldn't do it.

Same here. I'm thrilled that we're having such an amazing transitional ceremony, and I'm very happy that I have both online and f2f friends who are attending. I'm equally happy that I can be happy for them from my couch, while listening to Leifur trill at the birds on the feeder.

"In the equation E = mc⬧, c⬧ is a pretty big honking number." - Scola

Anytime I hear about great crowds like that, I think, "what about if you have to go to the bathroom?" I wish my mind weren't quite so prosaic in its concerns. It's not as though it's a frequent concern of mine, but I often evaluate situations on the basis of availability of sanitary facilities.

Besides which, work etc. I'm thinking of going to the local Democratic Committee potluck tomorrow, though!

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Yeah, I'd rather watch from way far away from the crowd, or with a quick escape route when it was over.
