Well, look at you. All dressed up in big sister's clothes.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

She had to go back in for a second 4 hour surgery for a complication.

Ugh. I can't even imagine. I hope that's it for complications for her and the rest of it goes smoothly.

But it's going to be a long long recovery.

That's what I have heard from others. But I'm glad she's home. It's got to be better to be there than at the hospital.

Your father too. Oh Kat, I send my thoughts and my blessings.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Workers "could have one adoption or one foster child per year, resulting in every year you get a new foster child, every year the husband and wife if they are both federal workers would take four weeks off with pay, because they have simply taken in a new foster child," he said before the vote.

In baboon tribes, there's often a taboo against hitting an infant. An adult baboon will sometimes swipe a baby and use it as a shield to escape a dangerous confrontation.

Apparently this guy thinks the federal government is staffed by panicky baboons.

Holy hell. I hope she recovers steadily.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Well the first surgery was long. She found out a week after being officially on the list that there was a liver. So she was at the hospital. The surgery started at 8:00 PM and wasn't finished until 8:00 AM the next morning.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Man, that's serious, Kat. I wish her heartily the best.

Last time I was at the ER the social workers came to talk to me. They're on my case, trying to make sure I cope with this properly. Way to make me feel inconspicuous.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Msbelle, do you think something like this could give Mac an outlet when he gets so worked up?

Tommyrot, not that you should let the landlord push you, but you might find apartment hunting easier now than in 4 months. The Loyola area has tons of apartments available now which will fill up before the fall semester.

Kat, health-ma to your sister and dad.

ita, conspicuousness aside, it's probably good to have a neutral party looking out for you.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Health ~ma and coping~ma to you and your family, Kat.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Health-ma to all family members, for sure. From what I've read, liver transplant patients in particular feel remarkably better immediately, too!

ita, social workers can sometimes be a real help, if only because they see a lot of the same problems and can coach pretty effectively. I was super pleased with the SW that my Mom's retirement community sent, who took one good look around her apartment and suggested a list of improvements that really were winners.

Anyway, the SW is still going to be more helpful than the guy who wanted you to break open your 401K....
