I've really got to learn to just do the damage and get out of town. It's the 'stay and gloat' that gets me every time.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Man. Huge lollipops are hard to lick. But I'm doing my best.

Also, my mom signed up for the Israeli field hospital that the gov is gonna start (tomorrow?) for the Gazans. Nothing official yet, but I'm so fucking proud.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Instead I had a little Japanese doll haircut.

Oh! I would love that. Except my hair is all fine flyaway and it would never work.

Shir, that's really cool.

So, I got to BWI last night early and I hung around until the other person who was flying in got there too. Our cab? $135! Is that not insane?

Things are all fluid and up in the air. I'm taking this entire week as an invitation to practice flexibility and patience. It's the only approach I can take without wanting to strangle people.

Schedule today? 8:30 AM - teach workshop. Then we have monument visits which may or may not work. Then a trip to the Jefferson Memorial. Then the concert (ugh cold). Then more workshop time. yay! I'm pretty excited.

Shir, that's a great thing your mom is doing. May she carry all sorts of healing ~ma with her - I'll send some.

Kat, I'm glad you made it to your hotel and are excited. I hope the weekend keeps treating you right.

My DH announced at 3 a.m. last night that he was going to do stand up comedy and then he tried to tell me a joke. I'm not sure which of us was dreaming/sleepwalking at this point.

We seem to have Surprise!Snowpocalypse this morning. I should have paid attention to the weather forecasts yesterday, but I KNOW when I checked on Friday there was no such thing, and it was supposed to stay cold for a couple more days.... Hmmmph.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Up too early, since Nova starting meowing and scratching at the door at 6:30 or so. Got up, fed the cats, went back to bed. I thought I had closed the door properly, but somehow Nova got the door open and started grooming/eating my hair at 8:30. So here I am...

Did you know you could get a replica of Patrick McGoohan's jacket on the Prisoner?

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Good morning Buffistas! I seem to have discovered a miracle cure for cramps, although it involves taking a prescription muscle relaxer not for the purpose intended. I took a half a flexeril prescribed for my back plus 2 ibuprofen and had relief for 10 hours! I am usually taking 4 - 6 ibuprofen every 4 hours and not getting full pain relief.

So now I wonder if I should try to get my Dr. to prescribe them for cramps or if I should try to go to Canada where they are OTC. When I was a kid in the eighties, everyone's mom seemed to have muscle relaxers for their period, but they don't seem to give them out like candy anymore.

Good morning, everyone!

Sophia, I'd check with your doctor, unless the price would be better in Canada. I have the same memories you do of every woman I knew having muscle relaxants for cramps back in the day. Luckily, I grew out of really bad cramps by college, but I still "enjoy" very heavy periods that never have predictable start days.

I'm glad I stayed home from the Shakesville party yesterday. I laid down on the couch to watch tv around 5:30 last night and didn't wake up until 11:45. Then, of course, I didn't get back to sleep until 5:00 this morning, but I woke up at 9:30, so it didn't throw off my sleep pattern too much. I just couldn't believe I was that tired, but I guess I was!

I'm running some errands this afternoon, and then will watch the inauguration concert on HBO (I don't get HBO normally, but they're supposed to have it available to everyone, so I'm hoping I'll be able to see it).
