Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

We've only had one furlough paycheck so far, so we'll see how I feel about it next month. So far, the days off are great!

I just had to cut off my nails because one was breaking way down. Sad! I'm still surprised I can grow my nails past my fingers.

I hate my sick day situation this year. At 9 days taken, things are triggered for it to be noted in your review - maybe nothing happens, but whatever. I am at 4.5 days already. In addition, I have already taken 2.5 of the 3 personal days I get. And I know I am just feeling like a day off because the March/April stretch of no holidays. Thing is though, because I am my own worst enemy, the next three holidays look like this: travel, family staying with us, US Open & family staying with us.

Today is slow, I'm documenting source code which is about as exciting as watching paint dry. As someone who has had a job involving watching paint dry, I speak from experience.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Our biggest client just replaced their SQL/web server with a much more powerful one, running SQL Server 2008. Now for some reason we're having all sorts of performance issues as we experience the Friday rush of everyone entering their time. Also, the performance monitoring stuff in SQL 2008 is all new and weird....

So I'm helping my boss with that. At least it's making the day go by fast.

Ditto. I have leave time out the wazoo. Although taking sick days is definitely Frowned Upon.

hip deep in pie

I also have time up the wazoo.

Our flex work now gives us a day off every other week, which is pretty sweet. It's hard to complain about the hours here, but there's lots more to bitch about, to be sure.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

That is one thing I really like about my company. We have one pot of Paid Time Off, not separate sick/holiday, and as long as you are taking PTO, no one complains. I accrue a day off each pay period.

Now, between being a mom and dealing with my mom, I feel like I burn through them as fast as I earn them. Like today. Tried to work from home this morning, but my brain just isn't in it. Today is going to be a day off and in an hour we head out to the hospital for mom's biopsy. I'm supposed to be in training all next week - hopefully we get some good news and she recovers pretty quickly.

Well I just ran an end of year vacation plan, and if I take the min days I really want at T-day and Christmas, I should have 2 extra days. I just put in for our "free" day (since 7/4 is a Sat), so I'll probably use one of those extra days in June while mac is in school and then I should be good.

Ooh. Time to post some creationism crazy:

The spread of the so-called 'swine flu' demonstrates yet again how useless and sometimes deadly a mutation can be. Furthermore, as the infection spreads around the world, the search for an antidote is desperately sought, but the very fact that the virus is seen as something to be opposed actually supports the Biblical view of this world. It is always good and right to oppose sickness, but in evolutionary terms, why don't humans simply resign themselves to it and allow the strong to survive? The evolutionary point of view would say the virus has a 'right' to live, so 'good luck' to it!

From PZ: A little study in contrasts

eta: This is the guy's solution to the Swine Flu:

The great hope for this fallen, diseased, weatherworn world, is the return of Christ, who has promised to bring restoration, everlasting health and peace to all people.
