It's so weird. I'm really a private introvert. But when I escape the lines of my property, I want to know the community around me. So far Anna and Ben and Tommy and I politely ignore each other out on the back decks and patios but for a wave, but off the front steps, a few exchanged words leads to a conversation or not with both neighbors. Or an invite. Social boundaries when we're in each others' laps.

I want to walk around the blocks to introduce myself to all the folk who gave me their recs and addresses, to thank them. But without invading their space. I guess if I don't get around to it before I do an open house, I'll invite them then.

It took me a long while to build a community where I lived before, and I really loved having that community. So I learned something, and this time? I'm actively recruiting. And the great thing is, here already has a sense of that, if not the personal ties. This community wants to be one. I'm sure I'll find Miss Louises and Ellies and Taylors here too. Just faster, because I now know this is something I can do.

Here's a question: if my credit card company contacted me about the fraud, I called their fraud line and verified it was fraud, they created a fraud case, closed my account, are sending me a new card and an affidavit to sign; is there anything else I should do?

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

notify the credit reporting agencies? I think the credit card company might take care of that, but it's not like it would hurt to do it twice.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

sarameg, that sounds wonderful. But what's Safeway?

shrift, that sucks. I'm sorry.

Puppy!

Good luck with the puppy, Dana. Also, I second the comment about the nails. My dog is much happier getting around on my hardwood floors when her nails are shorter. Also I sleep better without the tick-tick-tick-tick of the nails.

... although I suspect that your first foray into nail-clipping is going to be traumatic for all concerned...

Good luck with the credit card thing, shrift. That really sucks, especially since it's happened to you twice.

Happy adjustment to the new puppy, Dana!!

If anyone's interested, I finally uploaded pics from my Grand Canyon day trip last November.

I like the fact I got something at all distances in this one, and I like the sky's colors on this one. I've been experimenting with framing things. (I had a good result with that technique by accident in Savannah last spring.)
