Natter 63: Life after PuppyCam
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Songs that make me cry: Greg Brown's version of William Blake's "On Another's Sorrow," Cheryl Wheeler's "Arrow," and virtually any version ever of "No Woman No Cry." (Er, yes. Being tenderly told I don't need to cry sets me right off. Shut up.)
Swine flu update: My church is no longer doing wine at communion "until we know more about the flu."
I'm with everyone who wants bubble wrap and cabana boys attending ita, and if I had any money I'd kick something over in Paypal right now to make it happen.
I already have three things I'm supposed to do as soon as possible this morning.
I hope those requests came with coffee and a pastry, otherwise - get in line!
ita, I hope you're hanging in there today. Actually, I hope you're still sleeping right now.
Songs guaranteed to make me cry: "Amazing Grace," and the first time I hear "Silent Night" every Christmas, as well as hearing the church choir sing it on Christmas Eve. Other than that, it's usually instrumental music -- oddly, I tear up at the end of
Jurassic Park,
when that gorgeous music wells up and they're watching the birds swoop over the water from the helicopter.

Mmmm, coffee.
I am already frustrated with my tasks of the day. Partially frustrated with others, partially with myself. MUST plow through this stuff so it does not get any more behind schedule.
Huge relief! The stuff sent to me over the weekend is excellent! Needs hardly any work! All is not lost!

The descant on O Come All Ye Faithful makes me cry and cry, which has been a problem when I've been in choirs! But that's crying in a good way because it's so beautiful, not sad crying. Most choral descants make me cry like that, really.

Yep, Jurassic Park does it to me too. A lot of Williams, actually-- the main theme from E.T. even though I've never seen the film (yes, yes, I know) and the theme from Home Alone as well.
Oh, and one other-- the "Ode to Joy" from Beethoven's Ninth-- especially the one recorded at the Berlin Wall.
They actually were able to get in some soccer games between the rains. Both kid's teams won. I have no idea what the score was in Leif's game, but it wasn't pretty for the other team. Emaryn's team played the older team that Leif's coach coaches. They won 6-1 and Emaryn scored three goals, it was by far the best game her team has played. I don't think the other team knew what had hit them.
Leif's Team
Score!
Taking it down the field
Break
It's not fun watching your sister's team annihilate your coach's older team
Waiting for the game to start
Tough lineup
Seriously, do you want to mess with this team?
They can come at you low, they can come at you high
Sidelines
One of them missed
Bearing down on the ball
Taps will make me cry, other stuff too but I can't think of any at the moment.
Good Monday all! I've convinced myself that we won't have any swine flu here because everyone leaves Florida at this time of year, no one actually brings their germy selves here.
la la la la la
Happy Move! to sara, and belated birthdays to all who have had them over the past few days while I have been dark.
I have skipped and skimmed to say that my guaranteed cry song is "Puff the Magic Dragon", and it has been since I was a small child.
