Two from high school have friended me, one that I don't remember at all, but the other is an upperclassman who was in Drama Club with me and I remembered as being smart, talented, and funny. Since we parted ways he got ordained and is still a committed Christian living his religion positively and nonjudgmentally. Also, has grandkids (he married right out of high school) which wigs me out.

I've had a couple of false friend requests too, there's an author with my name who I've been mixed up with.
Unrelated to Facebook, there's a woman I always see when I'm with my parents (she works at the grocery store), and she always talks about how I went to school with her daughter. I have no memory of the daughter. Finally, we figured out she must have been younger than me, which explains it -- I definitely remember people older than me in school who probably never knew my name! The thing is, I know they wouldn't know me!
People, man.
I have one from high school that I don't remember at all and one I can only sort of place from high school and middle school. I think I may have gone to a school dance with her so I feel particularly bad about that one.
Then I have one from college who apparently remembers being classes with me but I have absolutely no recollection of her at all.

Your real name is also the name of a guy I work with, only he spells it wrong. Freaked me right out when I first saw you in my Facebook people-you-may-etc., because I was thinking "how does (other guy) know all these Buffistas?"
That's the thing, there are several people from highschool who are older then me and I totally know who they are - they haven't friended me (and well I rarely friend anyone, just confirm people), but I totally get that. I guess you just tend to know the people above you in grades, but not so much the ones below you.

Yeah, I've had some people friend me on Facebook from high school from my year who are grandparents. Freaks me right out too when I think about the fact that Nate and Abby are 11 and almost-13 and I had them both by the time I was thirty, which to me, is having them young.

You pay attention to them because they're Important.
I have a pretty high friending threshold for high school and college. It needs to be someone I was friends with and interacted with not just a name I recognize. My threshold is much lower for friending requests I get though. I don't want to turn people down.
lisah, thank you. I did remember (I woke up awfully early this am) and was able to stop at the pharmacy on my way in.
One of my closest friends is on fb and keeps nagging me to participate in one of those application dohickeys (pirates? coves? something,) and I'm all @@. It just doesn't appeal to me. I pretty much use fb for info only.
