Not clicking on flashy mimes.
YOU MUST.
Ok, I'm taking that as a lead-in to cross-post from Music. Having a little too much free time these days, I've made a list of some Australian music I've been enjoying of late. I'm sure some of them have received some play in the States, but I don't know which ones.
First up, Adelaide artist Sia discovers how to use the powers of French mime for good, in "Soon We'll Be Found". [link] She's already known for the haunting song "Breathe Me", which I believe was used in Six Feet Under. Bonus track for those looking for a more disturbing video clip (yes, the one
without
French mime is the disturbing one), "Buttons": [link]
Next song is "Black And Gold", by Sam Sparro. I'm a sucker for syncopated rhythms. I believe there are other people here who may appreciate the men in top hats. [link]
For people who are having trouble meeting their recommended daily intake of whimsy, the pixie-esque Lenka offers "The Show". [link]
Something with more of a beat, the Rogue Traders' "Voodoo Child". Fans of Doctor Who may recognise it from the penultimate episode of Season 3. [link]
A rather wonderful animated video to accompany Gotye's atmospheric "Heart's A Mess". [link] Seriously. Check out this video. The animation is beautifully melancholy.
I don't quite know how to describe this one. Overload of ghost children in Pnau's "Baby". [link] I also rather enjoy their collaboration with Ladyhawke, "Embrace". The dancing strawberry and friends make their appearance here too. [link] Speaking of Ladyhawke, her latest song, "Delirium", manages an enjoyable beat. [link]
Half of Pnau is also half of Empire Of The Sun, whose first single is "Walking On A Dream". They shot this video in Shanghai, no doubt to the bemusement of the locals. Fortunately, the Shanghainese have considerable practice in waiting until one is out of earshot before giving voice to their mockery. [link]
Finally, Missy Higgins (no relation) and her song "Where I Stood". Similar sentiments to Fergie's "Big Girls Don't Cry", except Missy sounds like she actually means it. I couldn't find the official video, so this is a live performance. [link]
Thank yez. Thank yez all. Australia will be here all week. Try the veal.
COME OVER HERE AND MAKE ME.
mac was asleep by 9:20 and was pleasant this morning. The DS is just a mood killer in many many cases, it's why it is evil. Unfortunately, I can't undo giving it as a gift - and the plus side of having something portable that can entertain him for hours is hard to ignore.
I feel ooky again this morning. I had a full dinner last night, but the idea of any food this morning makes me queasy. I need to go get something though, and quick, so that I do not end up really nauseated because I have a group lunch to be at.
Maybe you just need to nibble little bits of protein at regular intervals? I know if I don't eat for too (eta: TWO?!!) long, food sounds gross and I get wobbly.
I really, really, really, really can't believe I'm moving this weekend. Buried under all the to dos, it's there, but I haven't really had a chance to process it. I suspect I will want my mommy.
But I can't figure out which box. In any case, the likelihood of me hitting a pharmacy tomorrow is 90%. Unless I forget.
They are in the mailbox just in case.
When I was in elementary school if we went to the nurse with a queasy tummy before lunch she make us eat lunch before deciding if we were really feeling sick or not. It used to piss me off because I was like "I know the difference between hungry and nauseated!" But sometimes I really don't. Even now.
And in completely other news, tommyrot, I've seen an Apache in (tiny metal) person; if you make it back to the Bay Area again to visit we can make an excursion out to Orinda, where there's a little cowboy bar near the freeway with an entire display wall of 19th century poky stabby shooty things.
Ooh, that sounds like fun!
ION, I am convinced that K&K Mime have superpowers, and when they're not spreading the word of God through mime they're fighting crime and supervillians and whatnot. Haven't figured out what their superpowers are, though.
While it's a bit cruel of the nurse to do to someone who's truly about to hurl, when I'm too hungry, it feels like nausea not hunger. Headaches also make me nauseous.
It's a good thing you're doing, sarameg, but yeah, move now, process later.
The DS is just a mood killer in many many cases, it's why it is evil.
I've noticed that with my nephew as well. Otherwise I'd be tempted to get a game system for the kids.
I haven't managed protein, but I had a bagel and a banana. I plan on getting chicken something for lunch.
Peregrine Falcon nest cams in San Francisco and in San Jose.
Does anyone else find it ironic that the K&K Mime site has sound?
