Today was made of fail. I almost finished painting but ran out of paint and going out for more would be a waste of time today. And I need to put another coat on the smaller bedrooms. Then I tried to install a safety lock on the basement door and realized I didn't have my drill. Later discovered I can't find my drill bits. Tried to replace the deadbolt on the balcony door and failed. No idea what's going on with that. Someone gave me some cuttings I'd love to plant, but no idea if I'll find the time before they are dead. Came back to do laundry and all the washers are in use.

I have no idea how the fuck I'm going to get all this done.

And I forgot to buy dishsoap.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I'll just say, my parents moved into a house with crazy Holly Hobby wallpaper in the kitchen, and were going to get rid of it....which they did, 10+ years later.

Which is why I'm painting the ceilings now. If I get any new water damage, I need to see it as new.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

My trip down Holly Hobby memory lane just took a strange turn.

And I tried to buy a trashcan but it wouldn't fit in my car so I returned it. I'll sort that out later. There was a squashed dead rat in the alley.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

Sounds like quitting time! (Throw the cuttings in some water, sara. Some plants root easily enough that way).

Had a successful Daffodil Day Celebration at work, weather ended up being sunny and pleasantly warm.

Ended on a bit of a downer as former volunteer/new office assistant forewarned me that the Development Director was sure to throw a fit at this Tuesdays meeting about other staff asking the office assistant to do... their job. Apparently the three volunteers and new OA brought on to help in the office are actually the Development Director's personal bitches and cannot do anything but what the DD asks of them (mainly, doing the DD's job for her while she chats with the caterer in the kitchen).

Teamwork's gotta work both ways, honey. And who was the one staff member who didn't show up to help for today's event? The DD. Who did show up and worked all day, unpaid? The office assistant. I hope to god she truly volunteered to help and wasn't pressed into it. She's not salaried like the rest of us.

I'll be remembering this next time DD asks for anything that falls outside the realm of horticulture.

me, not be

Now tagless for your comfort.

You've never seen Sushi Pack, Laga? They've very cool.

Holly Hobbie has been updated (with the great-granddaughter). Also, THE Holly Hobbie has a television series (and books) called Toot & Puddle.

What do y'all think of when you hear "brunch"?

I've got a day to put together one for 15 to 30 people (or five!) and right now all I'm hearing is quiche. A day is probably too late to get something like that catered?

You have to remember that being a 5-time Olympic medalist means Hilary Knight has been playing hockey at an elite level at least 16 years. It's impossible for her to be a teenage girl less than 16 years old, thus the President's complete lack of interest.

Omelets and mimosas are the foremost things I think of in relation to "brunch." Smoked salmon and bagels probably fit in there somewhere too.
