Those are nice, but you are right, I will go for something more vintage. One thing I want to do is match the baseplate footprint. So I don't have to match paint and plaster and the wall texture pattern thing. Two are 5" diameter and the other two (the hard two) are 4x8" with the corners lopped off, so I might have to go bigger.

They're old (you know I like that) but just too fussy. I saw not-old ones like them in the store, but I can't find them online. Mine(!) are old brass, but...just too too. Remind me of grandmas. I think I might like something in a dark metal, or black/wrought iron, because I've got a lot of that and I like the look.

Chandelier shocked me. OK, buddy, ON THE LIST. It's likely a loose wire, I've been shocked by many an old lamp. Again, it is a little fussy. But I can take my time.

In the meantime, paint.

I smell like the house. It is disconcerting. It's just that closed up musty old house smell.

I plopped CFLs where-ever there were missing bulb. You know what? First floor ceiling is going to make me crazy. Oh well, I can plot to remedy it.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

It is really ridiculous how much Drew Barrymore looks like Little Edie Beale in that older makeup. In the ads, at least.

no lavendar sink, I looked, but LOTS of white rectangle ones, and I am guessing they might be interested in your pink one.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

congrats, sara!

New Landlady agreed to shift my lease to start on June 1st. I think this is for the best, now that I've seen the checklist of things I could be charged for upon moving out of Old Apartment.

Seriously, why isn't there a grace period of at least one week for moving out/moving in?

Punishingly Intricate

WOOHOO SARA!!!

sara, I have no idea on prices, but demolitiondepot (dot) com

there are a couple of salvage places here in town to that I've been wanting to visit. Too bad I have no free time until...June-ish?

I've been looking at apartmenttherapy & watching HGTV non-stop for the last couple of weeks trying to get ideas for my main bedroom. I've never done anything with it but something's got to change if a whole other person is going to be moving in there! And it would be really nice to have a space in the house that we've designed or whatever together.

This is the same style as my poor porch light, except mine is a pointy pyramid. [link] Mine needs glass and cleaning. I have to look into glaziers. I also have a doorpane to replace (was replaced with PLASTIC! DER. At least I can do that myself, thanks to my dad and years of breaking windows.)

One day, I need to replace the beadboard on the porch roof.
