Spike: At least give me Wesley's office since he's gone. Angel: He's not gone. He's on a leave of absence. Spike: Yeah, right. Boo-hoo. Thought he killed his bloody father. Try staking your mother when she's coming on to you! Harmony: Well…that explains a lot.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

I just watched the second ep of Harpers Island.

I don't think they know anyone is dead yet. Which is annoying. If we don't find bodies next week I'm not sure I can keep watching ...

You have to remember that being a 5-time Olympic medalist means Hilary Knight has been playing hockey at an elite level at least 16 years. It's impossible for her to be a teenage girl less than 16 years old, thus the President's complete lack of interest.

Yay sara!

Thankfully what I thought was going to be a shitstorm of work drama today got resolved peacefully in a way that won't involve me getting dragged in to figure out how to do a tech-phobic co-worker's project. And my supervisor was very complimentary about my general update on the project I'm managing, where I'd worried I wasn't getting things done fast enough.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Mazel tov, sarameg!

My closing was attended by my buyer broker, the seller and his family, their broker (who was his sister), my real estate lawyer and their real estate lawyer. That's the way it rolls in MA (I suppose it's becuase of gay marriage or whatev'). You have to get lawyers involved because since some of the lots and land go back to Colonial times that title searches are fiddly things, and you have to produce proof that you're buying home owner's insurance, et cetera.

And did I mention the signing? You actually do sign papers that state you signed other papers, and also have to scatter initials all over the damned place.

After having gone through one house-buying, I'm deeply surprised that anybody ever moves again.

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

Tom, some people you know are geniuses. I may have to watch that thing nineteen more times to savor all the performances and harvest all the taglines.

Too true. My favorite has got to be "The colors are colorful, and the arches are archiful."

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Whoohooohooohooo, sarameg! Congrats!

I did refrain from buying new sconces, though. I need to research that.

Hee. You should buy these that I have that are television sconces. They're constantly used on sets for some reason; Boston Legal, I think Psych or something else. I forget. But I see them all the time. It cracks me up.

Okay, I'm just kidding for you, I know they're totally not your aesthetic, but they're great!

Yay for drama free, Matt.

The status is NOT quo.

Woo! Congrats, Sara!

Also, Tom, that may be the most fantastic thing I have ever seen. "They're taking away by Asianity." HA!!!

Those are nice, but you are right, I will go for something more vintage. One thing I want to do is match the baseplate footprint. So I don't have to match paint and plaster and the wall texture pattern thing. Two are 5" diameter and the other two (the hard two) are 4x8" with the corners lopped off, so I might have to go bigger.

They're old (you know I like that) but just too fussy. I saw not-old ones like them in the store, but I can't find them online. Mine(!) are old brass, but...just too too. Remind me of grandmas. I think I might like something in a dark metal, or black/wrought iron, because I've got a lot of that and I like the look.

Chandelier shocked me. OK, buddy, ON THE LIST. It's likely a loose wire, I've been shocked by many an old lamp. Again, it is a little fussy. But I can take my time.

In the meantime, paint.

I smell like the house. It is disconcerting. It's just that closed up musty old house smell.

I plopped CFLs where-ever there were missing bulb. You know what? First floor ceiling is going to make me crazy. Oh well, I can plot to remedy it.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

It is really ridiculous how much Drew Barrymore looks like Little Edie Beale in that older makeup. In the ads, at least.
