Just because you benefit from something doesn't mean you can't also be extremely critical of it.
exactly -- I know what my prpoerty taxes will be -- that's nice . And I don't want to chase people out of thier homes. But I'd kinda like the neighborhood school to survive.
yay fo you Allyson!
I think it's always a good sign when your interviewer says, "we've missed you so much!" and gives you (a non-creepy, very welcome) hug before the interview.
A very good sign. Also not unexpected. I hope the outcome falls according to expectation as well.
Just because you benefit from something doesn't mean you can't also be extremely critical of it.
True, and yet I can't help but feel hypocritical given our particular circumstances.
Burrell, I don't think it's hypocritical. Hypocritical would be voting for Prop 13 and then complaining about how shitty public schools have gotten.
For example, I'm a white person living in America. I benefit an extreme amount from this, relative to the rest of the world. Still, I am very critical of the privileges extended to me just because I am a white American. I do not consider that hypocritical.
Oh! And I just got some fan mail from a reader. Good times. Everything's coming up Millhouse!
Joe the Plumber at Michigan Tea Party: Saying ‘In God We Trust’ Will Get You Shot In Some Places
What places would those be?
“Let me give you another extremist view, ‘In God We Trust,’” he said to wild applause. “Say that too loud in some parts of America and you will be shot. It’s terrible.”
Does this guy think at all before he opens his mouth?
Does this guy think at all before he opens his mouth?
You're assuming he can think.
The good: The 8 dozen donuts I ordered for library week were a big hit, and there are less than a dozen left.
The bad: I ate a donut this morning, and one more about a half hour ago, and I feel so gross.
Also, boss lady is here, and I feel like I can't play on the internets as much as I would like.
Think? He doesn't even know the word.
Yay good interview, Allyson!
Packed another box. All that's left in the kitchen is what I need to live and the catfood and cleaning supplies. I think files and papers are next.
It's getting down to odds and ends.
I skipped 400 posts.
am not dead, just still with family. mom and I went and looked at housing stock today. the idea makes me queasy. liked some of the houses though. would like their interiors in the city. ugh. at this point I feel like we are battling a bit on who can whine more about a possible move, me or them.
