"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Happy birthday, Lillian!

(I love that name).

Edit: oh, yeah, I also skipped about 600 posts.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

ita, either your lofotenmoose link is seriously broke or I don't have a browser that can run it. It gives me a forbidden page in IE, even.

In fact, I was up late wrestling with CSS myself, like I was trying to round Cape Horn, with a similar amount of determination. I found a site called MaxDesign that shows off Listutorials, a Floatutorial, and a general purpose Selectutorial that were very helpful.

I just want to be able to make my own page for Zengarden, because if I can do that, I think I can claim to be a whiz at CSS stylin'.

Hippo Birdies, Lillian!

“Not dead yet!”

Happy Birthday, Lillian! My goodness, look at that glorious hair--

And I'm certainly willing to accept that there was a [really freakin' big mistake] somewhere in Amazon, but what really bugs me is the email sent to the author stating their practice of screening for adult material.

I mean, yes, the PR bunnies definitely need to work overtime on this Easter Monday.

Interesting perspective from Ron Hogan, senior editor at GalleyCat. He was amazon's gay and lesbian studies editor in the late 90s.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Happy birthday, Lilybean!

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LILIAN!!

I absolutely buy that AmazonFail was a glitch, or at least unintended consequences. (As I pointed out in BHP's LJ, this sort of thing happens where I work all the time. Not in terms of LBGT content specifically, but in terms of individual developers' pet projects launching live on the website without any testing beyond "does my shiny new toy work the way I pictured it?" and not, say, "does my shiny new toy BREAK BUSINESS CRITICAL FUNCTIONALITY for oh, the entire US sales team.")
