Whoah. Exactly what kind of cigarettes are they, anyway?

Just made muffins out of cinnamon basil leaves & flowers. They actually turned out kinda good!
That sounds exotic!
So, I may not be doing any actual work, but I'm approving things left and right! Because no one else is here to do it.
Anyway. There are some people on the far-religious-right end of the spectrum who are freaking out over the recent advances towards gay marriage. Here's just one example:
Right-wing group tries to ‘connect the dots’ between ‘gay marriage and mass murders.’
In recent days, there has been no shortage of fear-mongering about same-sex marriage. Right-wing groups have said that marriage equality removes the “cornerstone of society” and may “destroy…democracy.” Morality in Media President Bob Peters goes even further today, linking same-sex marriage to the recent tragic uptick in mass murders:
This secular value system is also reflected in the ’sexual revolution,’ which is the driving force behind the push for ‘gay marriage;’ and the Iowa Supreme Court decision is another indication that despite all the damage this revolution has caused to children, adults, family life and society (think abortion, divorce, pornography, rape, sexual abuse of children, sexually transmitted diseases, trafficking in women and children, unwed teen mothers and more), it continues to advance relentlessly.
It most certainly is not my intention to blame the epidemic of mass murders on the gay rights movement! It is my intention to point out that the success of the sexual revolution is inversely proportional to the decline in morality; and it is the decline of morality (and the faith that so often under girds it) that is the underlying cause of our modern day epidemic of mass murders.
Ah, the crazies....
There's a nice piece in the NYTimes today by a gay guy whose parents got married in Iowa back in the day, because their interracial relationship was illegal in Wisconsin (?) where they lived. (Most shocking note: the mother was arrested for prostitution on their first date, because the cops couldn't figure out another reason a white woman would be out with a black man.)
I love Ryan North kind of a lot because he came up with A Time Traveler's Essentals Shirt
Nothing romantic or lovable about real pirates.
Not true. The charter they sailed under was a working model for anarchist styled democracies. Pirate utopias are pretty fascinating, actually. Recruitment was not that uncommon. And it was far better to be a pirate than a member of the British Navy. While there were certainly pirates who were sadistic killers, it wasn't the norm and wasn't considered good for business. I'd expect you found as many sadists among Her Majesty's navy where the slightest infractions could get you scourged or keelhauled.
Still, you can't discount that pirates stole for a living. I am not cool with that.

One could argue the British Navy did the same.
I have a sudden urge to shout "Hardison", and then run away.
