Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

That whole walking the plank thing is only cool when our hero manages to escape. Pirate fiction glosses over the death sentence aspect.

Although that (eta: walking the plank) seems to be a myth too.

sara, all that BALTIMORE NEIGHBORHOOD HERITAGE PROJECT stuff is fascinating! Did you see any of that? Interviews done with older b'more residents in the 70s.

Also, there is no evidence that pirates ever fought ninjas....

I hadn't looked at it directly, but yesterday I came across one and it sounded so familiar...it had to be the same guy they talked with again in the '68 riots series on the radio.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Hogwarts snaps. My favourite so far:

Yo momma so black, she’d probably get sorted in to Ravenclaw and would be a minor character at best

I'm watching what looked like a great series: Deadliest Warrior. They're evaluating gladiators versus Apaches. They're ruining the whole thing by trash talking between the teams. They're so juvenile. They should really go at it head to head, instead of populating a simulator.

Coding and Sleeping

Nothing romantic or lovable about real pirates.

Definitely not, they were aquathugs back in the day too.

Also, there is no evidence that pirates ever fought ninjas....

Yeah, the ninjas knew better.

Oh, maybe, yeah. There's a whole group of interviews about the riots. I can't stop reading the ones from my neighborhood. It's fascinating!

Ann, that's a ferret.

Pirate fiction glosses over the death sentence aspect.

Yes, fiction pirates so much more fun than real pirates. Even the government-sponsored ones.

hip deep in pie

I think everyone underestimates how much fictional pirate probably reek.

I find myself unbearably cranky today. But I can't escape myself!
