See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Huge hugs to you and your mom, Theo!

Hec is still in bed. He had...not a great night, but he's asleep now, which is good.

I've been trolling travel websites looking at prices to Miami, and it looks like we'll have to start calling the individual airlines asking about bereavement fares. Has anyone had any experience with this? Any advice?

Now tagless for your comfort.

Happy Birthday, Tom!

Theo, that's great news about your mom!

Our wings are not tired.

I don't know about bereavement fares, JZ. Check prices to FLL and PBI too though because sometimes they are quite different, and I would happily transport as needed. Also, big hugs. I hope Hec gets some good rest this morning.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

JZ, when I went to my grandfather's funeral, I was told that airlines have more or less dropped bereavement fares since their standard web fares are already lower than a bereavement discount (on a full fare ticket) would be.

Bereavement fares are based on the highest unrestricted price for the flights, not the low fares, JZ, so finding a regular last minute fare has always been cheaper for us.

Laura, bless you! I did notice that about Fort Lauderdale, and Hec says (he just staggered up for coffee) that yep, it's not too far away.

“Not dead yet!”

And frankly, JZ, FLL is a MUCH better airport to fly into. Easier to get in and out of and much less congested than MIA. If at all possible, I'd recommend flying into there.

Our wings are not tired.

What Barb said about FLL. It is super easy to get in and out, unlike the horror that is MIA.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

ER's finale was basically satisfying. It was nice to see how everyone turned out. They got one more greusome birth/death in there so that's nostalgic too. I was disappointed to see that Kem continues to maintain her perpetual state of looking beautiful and tragic and utterly shutting out Carter (who, interestingly enough, ALSO had a son die). I STILL have no idea why he stays with her, even before Joshua's death she was pretty much beautiful, smug, and shutting out Carter.
