And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Is it just me, or does this column (Maureen Dowd on eye color) make no sense at all?

Maureen Dowd hasn't made sense to me in years. She's far more in love with quips than in presenting coherent arguments.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Is anyone having lj issues today? Did something happen over the weekend that I totally missed?

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

mac had a total meltdown this morning over the shirt that was clean for school. He ended up wearing a shirt that was still wet from the laundry.

This weekend the kids watched Cats & Dogs. Total meltdown at the end. I was taken by surprise by that. I mean it's not Old Yeller, it's got a happy ending. But the dead dog fakeout at the end was too much.

If I had only known ahead of time, I could have cut a bit out of the end and meltdown avoided.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

Happy birthday, libkitty!

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

FWIW, a certain amount of story-induced emotional meltdown is good for kids, as it gives them practice in learning to calm themselves and buck up, plus accepting consolation and so on. Not so great if it results in sleepless nights and ulcers, depending on the kid, of course. YKMV.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Holy crap. Someone put my 7th grade class picture up on Facebook. It is not pretty -- I'm pretty sure the girls of Somerville alone put a hole in the ozone layer with aerosol hairspray...
