A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

hip deep in pie

Apparently Google street view is going to taking pictures in Halifax in the next few weeks. I so want to rent some kind of giant cupcake costume and just hang around and try to end up in some pics.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

So the band around the stomach is forever?

If you have lap-band surgery, the band can be adjusted from the outside to allow for more food to enter the stomach. Also, it can be removed relatively easily. However, if you have gastric-bypass (which my sister did), it completely rearranges the stomach and makes it permanently smaller.

Compassionately intolerant

there's no guarantee that it'll keep you thin

A male contestant on Biggest Loser is post lap band surgery and came in at nearly 400 lbs. Something about the way the surgery went...and subesquent skin removals, I suspect, have left him looking like a giant armadillo. Plus, his health is shot.

Personally, I know two people for whom gastric bypass was a boon, but it seems there are a lot of people for whom it doesn't create lasting effects.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Ford Escape Hybrid?

Is that the one ND was trying to sell a while back? 'Cause if so, yeah, total ideal car for me. Except you know, for the price. In general hybrids wouldn't be that great for us because 95% of our driving is highway at 75. We never brake. Okay, obviously not never, but not often.

Anymore, we have most of our instruments at the locations, so we're never loading the full van except for cross country trips. So it seems foolish to keep driving it when we don't need to, particularly with the five grand or so we've put into it in repairs over the past six months. OTOH, we did do that, so I suppose we ought to get some mileage out of it now that it's done.
