Art Crawl!!!

Hee.

I really enjoyed "The Color of Magic" last night. It looked like it had been made by the same people that made "The Hogfather" - have there been any other Terry Pratchett adaptations from these people?

Although they don't make a big deal of the score in these soccer games, both the kid's teams won handily. It was kinda satisfying that my daughter's team won since the opposing coach was sorta intense and their coed team was more experienced then my daughter's all girl team.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, everyone!!

I'm going to celebrate my 43rd b-day by working all day, then heading over to the local park district's pool and signing up for the year (only $69, not bad) and then finally going grocery shopping (the pantry's been bare for some time, but now that I've cleaned out my fridge, I have room for fresh food that I hopefully won't let rot in the crisper drawer). My goal is to start bringing in my lunch instead of spending money at the cafeteria every day.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Sobering thought, that girl playing soccer looked like this when I first joined the Buffistas back in the Table Talk days.

She's so tall!

We played our first game on Saturday, and not only lost but the slaughter rule was invoked. Woe!

Though we were actually ahead after two innings (against a tough team) and it came down to one bad inning. It was my fault for leaving a pitcher out there too long when he was getting batted around. I knew he'd give up some runs but I wanted to give him some experience and he wasn't walking anybody. But it can really undermine their confidence when they get hammered like that. On the other hand, he might not be able to pitch at this level.

Sounds rough. It's got to be hard to both try to win and teach the game.

You definitely don't want to start the season 0-4. Most of the coaches try to get a win on the books early, and then they work in some games where the pitching isn't going to be as strong. Usually if you need a win, though, you can run your best pitcher out there for four innings and make it happen though.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

I started the morning by having blood drawn, and then lying down for ten minutes so I wouldn't pass out.
