This is my boat. They're part of my crew. No one's getting left. Best you get used to that.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Am I the only one who is so over St. Patrick's Day?

Nah. Outside of, say, NYC and Boston, it's pretty much just a get-shitfaced holiday.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh my god, it's WORSE in other places?

Apparently Savannah has the second-largest St. Patrick's Day celebration (after New York, I guess?) Anyway, on Saturday March 14 there were tons of people wandering the streets drunk at 11am in green Mardi Gras beads. Idiot frat boys dropping drunken f-bombs as I walk by with my kids.

I did like the historic fountain with green water.

In other places, you just get shitfaced without homophobic parades or earnest speeches about the auld sod. Not saying that's better or worse.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Yeah, Jesse, that's my reaction entirely.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Chicago dyes its river green.

Around here the "celebration" started Saturday. The TV news did a segment from a bar. One guy - drunk enough to be loud but not enough to fall down - said he'd gotten there early so he could do a lot of drinking ... and wasn't one of the first ones there. sigh.

Our wings are not tired.

I can understand being over St. Patrick's Day, but I'm not! We did our anniversary dinner thing last night because saner. No corned beef though as we opted for pizza. We may walk to one of the local places tonight. My city gets into it quite a lot. I skipped the parade last weekend because it was way too hot out. The parade is usually a lot of fun with local business floats mixed with citizens with green haired dogs and such.

I got 70% on the spelling thing, better than I expected without spellcheck.

Oh, I thought of another pseudo-ethnic pride celebration that's really a Get Drunk In Public Festival for many people: Octoberfest!

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

For some people, it's an excuse to get drunk while wearing lederhosen.
