I'll just jump in my time machine, go back to the twelfth century, and ask the vampires to postpone their ancient prophesy for a few days while you take in dinner and a show.

Buffista Music 4: Needs More Cowbell!

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Damn. Bowie and Lou Reed were the two artists who most influenced my musical tastes.

Sad now.

Obligatory Bowie quote: "It's Monday."

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

This one is big for me.

Me too. His music was and is such a huge part of my soundtrack.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

I loved his music, of course, but I didn't feel a huge personal connection to him. But it's sad to me because it feels like something entirely unique is gone. The world is less.

This is nice, from Twitter:

If you're ever sad, just remember the world is 4.543 billion years old and you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

The only thing I want to do to day is flop on the floor, listen to David Bowie music, and feel intensely sad.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

I overheard something about this at work today and was praying I'd misheard. I wonder how Jilli is holding up? I knew he'd had some health issues, but nobody I've heard who worked on the record or the musical mentioned about anything current. Dammit, he was supposed to be eternal.

Something I did not know [link]

Bowie's Name Was a Signal of Banking Innovation

David Bowie was a legend in the music industry, but his name was also a presence in financial services, where his identity was synonymous with innovation.

I know this isn't knew, but when Hil posted it on FB a few weeks ago, I managed to open the video in two windows and got a round going. It does all kind of fun things with the harmonies.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

I wonder how Jilli is holding up?

Thank you for thinking of me. I'm alternating between crying and being angry at anon fuckwits on Tumblr who are trying to tell me how problematic Bowie was.

... was. Fuck. Past tense is not okay here.

turns "Rock n' Roll Suicide" up louder

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

About--and this is something that I wish the Tumblr kids would get--as problematic as every other rock star of the time, because there was skanky shit that was seriously normalized (they also... seem to keep misquoting things there--FFA threads have been discussing this particular game of problematic telephone).

Which is something I've made my peace with over the years, to an extent.
