Can we make a rule that John Legend doesn't get to sing Bill Withers' songs, like ever?

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

Bill Withers is fucking amazing. I got to see him speak, and he was world-changing.
Should I buy Hawkwind's album Warrior on the Edge of Time?
Too late--I already did.
eta: Scifi and heavy metal--two great tastes that taste great together.
Also, the '70s were awesome.

I love their early 70s stuff. Do Re Mi is probably my favorite.
It has the song that gave Lemmy "Motorhead" and the bonus tracks include "Ejection" and "Lord of Light."

I like what I've heard so far. I'll have to check out more of their early stuff. Who knew my life was sorely lacking in '70s scifi-inspired heavy metal?
ION, I'm now downloading Fanny's First Time In A Long Time: The Reprise Recordings.
"Psi Power" by Hawklords (Hawkwind in disguise) is also pretty great: [link]
"Silver Machine" is also de rigueur: [link]
And then there was their "new wave hit" "Quark Strangeness and Charm": [link]

RIP Ornette Coleman. He was a force of nature in music whether you liked his style or not. I was happy to see him once with some monster collaborators (including Charlie Haden and Pat Methany).
Ok, y'all, so I'm getting increasingly serious about my songwriting. I appreciate everyone's feedback on the tune I posted earlier. I'm putting together a little group of people who would be willing to listen to my stuff periodically and let me know what you think. You don't need to be musicians or musical at all, you just have to like to listen to music! I will sometimes have specific questions to ask, or I might be doing the optometrist test...is it better like this? or like this?
First up, I have an opportunity coming up, and I need to whittle down the stuff I have written to a three song demo. So I'd like to send you five to ten songs, and have you choose your favorites. I will probably set up a dropbox specifically for this so you can download at your leisure.
It's kinda hard for me as a beginning songwriter to be bold enough to ask people to listen, so I thought it might help me to have an opt-in group of people I know will be enthusiastic about hearing raw stuff. I won't tread on your generosity too much! I'm thinking after this initial one, maybe once every couple of weeks or so.
Is anyone game?
