Buffista Music 4: Needs More Cowbell!
There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.
I am loving that Tumbler.
Holy Balls! Kate Bush is performing shows in August & September in London. I already have a ticket to Dublin for September. IF I can get tickets, there may have to be a side trip. [link]
What's up with members of GWAR dropping dead?
Yeah, that's terrible.
They were all straight edge, as I recall, so it wasn't drugs.
Yeah, straight edge gamer geeks. I should talk Pete into doing a tribute sketch or something.
In what thread were we discussing Amanda Palmer's "Fuck Plan B" thing? I thought it was here, but searching has turned up nada.
I ask because she is appearing at TEDxSomerville this weekend and I may have a chance to ask a question. Here's my draft:
You've been quoted as saying that one of the secrets to making it as an artist is to go all in and "Fuck Plan B." But the fact is that you come from a place of relative privilege. With a family in Lexington, Mass., if you failed, you would never have to sleep in the streets, unless you chose to do so. You always had a back-up plan, whether or not you believed you were ever going to use it. How do you reconcile that with your advice, and what do you say to those who really don't have any support structure in place?
Suggestions for improvements are welcome.
We had the discussion in a Natter thread. I remember getting reeeeeeally vehement about it.
That's a great question, and much less rage-filled than any version of it I would come up with.
Thanks, Jilli. I just submitted it, pretty much as is.
