Buffista Music 4: Needs More Cowbell!

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I am in a restaurant and I just listened to the worst cover of "Against All Odds" I ever heard. I didn't think you could actually do that to a song and have a record deal.

Then...

I am currently listening to an equally bad cover of "Our Lips Are Sealed." Is there an album of bad covers or something because this is really regrettable and forcing me out of this restaurant.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Y'all, I think I'm getting punked. They are now playing Brian McKnight.

le nubian, this seems to happen to you frequently! Does every restaurant/bar/cafe in your town have terrible music?

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

yes, Kate. I keep going back because I like the food and service, but I wish I had control over the music.

Hmm, there's got to be some way to fix this. If they're listening to the radio, you should get one of those universal remote controls that will just turn it off or change the station. If they're using an iPod or similar, you might have to figure out how to create an EMP to knock it out.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

So I am watching ST:TSG and there is an episode with a Dr. Mannheim. So every time they say the character's name, I shouted out "Steamroller." Because that's how I roll.

Anyway, Beau says to me: "why do you keep shouting out steamroller?"

He had NEVER heard of Mannheim Steamroller. So I had to stop the episode and play some youtube clips. He recognized "Deck the Halls." Didn't know who that was.

Because books.

Manheim Steamroller is sort of 70s. Maybe that's why?

Old clip (late 60s maybe? early 70s?) of Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. and Johnny Carson singing.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

So in 1926, a song was published titled "Take Your Finger Out of Your Mouth (I Want a Kiss from You)"

From the comic on the cover, it sorta' looks like she's trying to make herself vomit.

Yeah, David Byrne emailed me about that a few hours ago.

Speaking of which--any Chicagoistas want to see David Byrne and St. Vincent at Ravinia on July 6th? Ravinia is an outdoor venue that's right next to a Metra stop so it's easy to get to.
