No, the Madonna song has to be danceable and should court controversy. I'll pass over "Like a Virgin" and "Like a Prayer" to pick "Papa Don't Preach."

Madonna is a tough one, too many options. Looking at number ones alone, we have "Like A Virgin", "Crazy For You", "Into The Groove", "Papa Don't Preach" and "Like A Prayer".

I narrowed it down to the Likes, and finally went with "Like A Prayer". I'll really need to pull up the video for a full accounting, though.

OK, after listening to the album for the first time in 24-ish years, I can say that Michelle Shocked's "Lovely Rita" is the standout track.
