I'm trying to put together an antidote for winter blues/summer music playlist.
So far I have:

"Kiss the Sky" Sean Lee's Ping Pong Orchestra
"Green River" Creedence Clearwater Revival

"Guantanamera" Celiz Cruz & Buena Vista Social Club
"Fried Neck Bones and Some Home Fries" Willie Bobo & Dan the Automator

Any suggestions?

The 33 1/3 proposal list: [link]
Seven separate pitches for Slint - Spiderland?!?!
Five for Exile in Guyville.
Three for Britney Spears - Blackout.
I'm boggled that only one other Waits was pitched.
Where are the Built to Spill fans? Where the Will Oldham writers?
I have no problem with Spiderland getting 7 requests.
That and Phair's album are in very high places in "to buy soon" list.
I agree that Spiderland was important, but man, I think a lot of those pitches would have a hard time selling the 5K copies they need to sell to break even. Signed, not even close.
I guess I didn't thought of that aspect. I'm more like "ooooh, shiny!" all over certain suggestions. Hell, I'll be shocked to find out if more than 8,000 people on this planet have a legitimate copy of Spiderland.
Five pitches for Pulp, only one for Blur. Intriguing. It is kind of a snapshot of critical taste at this moment.
I think he's
got
to do one of the Slint books now.
I wish Ann Powers would finish her Kate Bush book. Then again, remembering what it was like trying to finish my book, I'm sure
she
wishes it were done as well.
I hope one of the De La Soul books gets picked up. I almost pitched the Dolls, so I'm curious to see if one of those proposals gets nabbed.
I really want to see which writers pitched. I mean, Christgau's out of a job, dammit. Surely he could crank out a book like this over a weekend.
Five different Leonard Cohen pitches. Finally something for Ple's xmas stocking. Now if they'd only get on that Hal Ketchum...
eta:
Huh. Ple, did you know this?
In 1998, a neurological disorder called Acute Transverse Myelitis left Ketchum without the use of the left side of his body. He had to relearn basic tasks, including how to walk and play the guitar. He has since been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, the same disease that claimed his mother’s life.
Nick Cave and Cocteau Twins for Jilli.
I wonder if my friend Matthew pitched the Dave Grodin's Deep Soul Treasures. He was a big fan of that series. He might've also done the Dennis Wilson.
I was urging Joe Boucher to pitch too.
I know who pitched Danzig, Daft Punk, The Fall (This Nation's Saving Grace), and Deerhoof. And I'm pleased that some wag linked to the picture I made for Powell's for Flannery O'Connor's Hex Enduction Hour.
