Mal: You tell me right now, little Kaylee, you really think you can do this? Kaylee: Sure. Yeah. I think so. 'Sides, if I mess up, not like you'll be able to yell at me.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

That's a wonderful article, Consuela. Even if it did make me tear up something fierce.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Congrats on finishing the AtLA recap, Hayden! It's been a great read.

Absolutely! It's nice to see you getting some love in the Comments. I remember when they were a little testier early on.

I am jumping on the Gotye obsession waggon late (as usual), but I am just blown away by "Somebody I Used to Know". Such a simple song with a fantastically catchy hook, and yet it contains this layered, complex story, that's honest in a way we don't usually get from pop break-up songs. Also, the fact that the most honest and accusing voice in a song written by a man is given to the woman. How often does that happen?

Yeah, I'm really hung up on this song. Anybody got any other Gotye recs? Right now this is the only song I know?

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Yeah, I'm totally hung up on the song too. I have it in the Glee version and the originary.

Check out the youtube video of the original.

I'm not sure what I think of his other songs. Not as good as "Somebody", but I've only heard a few.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I downloaded "Somebody I Used to Know" and liked it enough to download the rest of the album. Will report back.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Yeah, I'm really hung up on this song. Anybody got any other Gotye recs? Right now this is the only song I know?

"Heart's a Mess". [link] I have pimped this song here before, I love it (and the video clip is fun too).

Yeah, the video sort of brought it all together for me. Before I finally watched it, it was just this catchy song that sort of sounded like Sting. I didn't really know the words or anything.

When I finally sat down and watched it, I was hooked.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

It's funny because people say they hear Sting or Peter Gabriel in his voice, and I do not. He does not sound like either to me (especially since his tunes don't sound like Sting or PG tunes, though perhaps closer to PG than Sting).

He sounds like "someone" to me, but it isn't Sting or PG. I can't put my finger on it though.

It's only vaguely for me, and only when he's belting. I think they have somewhat similar upper registers. When he's just singing, he doesn't sound like Sting at all.

Musically, he reminds me more of Florence. They have kind of similar musical sensibilities -- Unusual instrumentation, an ethereal quality, but with the ability to belt it and sometimes go big on the bombast.
