This may be of interest to Jon B only, but I just joined the new band fronted by My Dad Is Dead's Mark Edwards, an outfit called Secular Joy. They (We?) have an album coming out any day now, but it was all recorded with their former guitarist, a guy named Zeno. By the law of nomenclature, no matter how good I get, I can only be half the guitarist that Zeno was.
On the other hand, should you ever move on, you can be assured that you'll be twice the guitarist your replacement is.
That is definitely of interest to me! Can you get me a copy of the album (radio airplay, yaddayaddayadda)? Profile addy is good.
Hayden may be too modest to link to this (even though he doesn't play on these recordings), but here's his new band: [link]
Also, I am embarrassed to say that I only just now got the Zeno joke.
Unplayable Piece Used to Test Player Pianos
It’s called “Circus Galop” or “Death Waltz”, and it’s used to test the performance of player pianos. No single person has ever played it…so far. But if we can put a man on the moon, surely we can genetically engineer a superhuman species that can perform it.
I'm guessing a human would need at least six hands to play it. Sounds cool and fun to watch.
The composer Conlon Nancarrow composed primarily on hand-punched player piano rolls creating music that humans couldn't play. I always thought that was so cool.
