aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

What's that Jack Nitzsche song? "The Lonely Surfer"?

the hardest to learn / was the least complicated

Barb, my computer won't let me play "I Only Want to Be With You" because it recognized that someone other than me bought it from iTunes.

Didn't Apple do away with DRM?

“Not dead yet!”

They did, but I bought that song a couple of months ago. I think in order to remove the DRM I have to pay an additional fee. Lemme go look.

Yep.

"Cast Your Fate to the Wind" - Vince Guaraldi, is 1962. I think it's even featured in the movie Shag.

Or some movie set in that era. I think Donovan's son was in it. Hmmm...

Don't do that just for me -- isn't it possible for me to get around the DRM by burning it to a CD and then ripping *that* track back into iTunes?

It was used in "The In Crowd" with Donovan's son. Bad, bad movie, but great music.

And I've actually got "Cast Your Fate to the Wind" on a different playlist and the funny part is, I'd literally just started playing it when I checked the thread. heh. Great minds and all that.

Tep, yeah, I'll rip the track to a CD and back.

Don't waste a CD for me -- I (seriously) was somehow thinking that *I* could do it.

But I guess not, if I'm trying to rip it out of iTunes, which knows that you bought the track. Narf.

“Not dead yet!”

Well, just as well I tried burning, Tep-- my CD burner is acting wonky, again. I thought I'd solved the problem, but obviously not.

Bah. May go over to Tech to ask about it.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

ZOMG! Has anyone else been watching Elvis Costello's musical chat show (Spectacle) on Sundance? The show has already been pretty amazing in terms of music geek conversation and "wow, he played that?" from Elvis and his house band, but tonight I saw Elvis, The Police, and a few members of the house band play "Watching the Detectives" which segued into "Walking on the Moon". Pretty fucking awe-inspiring!

And then they did a WAY more than credible "Sunshine of your Love". In fact, it was amazing. Holy Shit! I think I'm going to need pick this up on DVD (hope it comes out that way - the music rights could be a bitch).

I have to say, though, that Sting with a beard looks disconcertingly like Malcolm MacDowell does these days, and I think Sting's not quite that old (though, granted, Malcolm seemed to age almost overnight somewhere back in the 90s).

Anyway, for music fans, it's a great show. So far the only one I haven't had any use for was the James Taylor episode, but I was also a bit distracted at the time, and am possibly the antithesis of a JT fan.
